What made you decide to pursue medicine?
I pursued a career in rural medicine with the goal of delivering compassionate patient-centered care. I wanted to fill in the gaps of healthcare in rural areas so these communities would have access to healthcare close to home.
Please tell us the most interesting, challenging or most humorous story you had from medical school or your training.
The most challenging aspect of attending graduate school was working full time and taking care of my family.

My grandparents, Kenneth and Nina, have been incredibly influential in shaping me into the person I am today and guided me with building the foundation for my family and career. Their guidance and support have been invaluable. Additionally, my dear friend Peggy, she has shown me that there are no limits to what you can achieve if you set my mind to it. Her encouragement has empowered me to dream big and reach for the stars.

What do you wish more people knew about your profession?
The importance of rural healthcare cannot be overstated. By getting involved with your local hospital or healthcare team, you have the opportunity to play a crucial role in ensuring that your community has access to essential healthcare services for years to come. Don’t take it for granted. Healthcare close to home may not seem important when you don’t need it but when you do it's invaluable.
