Please tell us about your previous career experience.
I was an Athletic Trainer for Mid-America Orthopedics, Clearwater High School, FC Wichita, and the Wichita Wings for 3 years prior to PA School
What made you decide to pursue medicine?
I love helping people in their time of need and challenging myself with complicated problems. I also enjoy being part of a team atmosphere and medicine combines all of those things very well.
Please tell us the most interesting, challenging or most humorous story you had from medical school or your training.
I was known for bringing excitement to each of my clinical sites. Often, when I would arrive to a clinical site, patient volumes and acuity levels would see a sharp increase, much to my enjoyment and the dismay of the nurses and PAs I rotated with!
What part of health care interests you the most and why?
Bringing comfort and understanding to patients in their time of need and distress.
Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
My dad was the most influential person in my life. He helped instill a great work ethic and compassionate attitude in me that I try to display every day.
What do you enjoy the most about working with patients?
Every patient has such unique stories and experiences that I truly love just chatting with them when there’s time to do so.
Outside of health care, what talents do you have? What hobbies keep you busy? What are your interests?
I love soccer and spend a lot of time enjoying the sport. I watch soccer when I can, I play soccer every weekend, and I coach soccer as well. When I get the opportunity to travel, I love going to Colorado and hiking mountains!
What is your favorite television show and why?
Ted Lasso, because it’s about a guy from Wichita that coaches soccer! It’s also very funny and has good life lessons in it too.
What are your favorite sports teams and when did you start following them. Why do you like to follow them?
The Chiefs are my favorite NFL team and I’ve been following them since I was able to comprehend sports.
My whole family loves the Chiefs. My favorite Soccer team is Tottenham Hotspur from North London.
When I started watching soccer a friend of mine was a Spurs fan so I watched them with him.
What do you wish more people knew about your profession?
Although we collaborate with physicians on a daily basis, we do not require one to be on site with us at all times.
Is there anything else you think we should know about you that makes you unique or sets you apart?
I’m married to my lovely wife Rachel who is an infusion nurse and I live in Clearwater.
I have lots of family from the area here and am happy to be helping take care of these communities!
