What are the requirements to live at Heritage Estates?

To ensure the safety and well-being of our community, residents must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be 50 years old or older.
  • Must be continent or able to participate in the management of incontinence.
  • Must be sufficiently and independently mobile to exit the building without assistance in a reasonable amount of time during an emergency.
  • Must not have any condition requiring a two-person transfer.
  • Must not have any ongoing skilled nursing intervention needed on a continuous basis for an extended period.
  • Must not have any behavioral symptoms that exceed manageability.
  • Must not require physical restraints.
  • Must submit to a functional capacity screen to determine necessity for services and qualifications for admission.
  • Must be able to self-administer medications or arrange for medication administration, unless arranged with Heritage Estates personnel.
  • Each resident must have a 2-step TB skin test done within seven days of admission.
Do I have to sign a long-term lease?
No. We operate on a month-to-month lease basis. If you decide that Heritage Estates is not for you, or you need a higher level of care, we require a 30-day vacancy notice.
Do you accept insurance?
While Heritage Estates is private pay (we are not Medicaid certified), we accept long-term care insurance. We are proud to offer reasonable rates to residents and their families.
Are pets allowed?
While pets can be considered family, they can pose a safety hazard. Unfortunately, we are not able to allow pets.
What is included in the apartments?
The apartments are ready for you to move in. They are unfurnished, so bring furniture and personal items that make it your own home. Each unit includes a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and sink.
May we have visitors?
Absolutely. This is your home, and we encourage you to make it that way. Guests are welcome at any time.
How does the emergency call system work?
Each resident is given a pendant to wear and a pull station in the bathroom shower area. In an emergency, the button or pull cord is activated by the resident. The average response time is 2 minutes.
What about transportation?
You are welcome to come and go as you please. If you bring your vehicle, you may park it in the lot next to our cottages and apartments.
Can I smoke in my apartment or cottage?
Heritage Estates is a smoke-free assisted living community. We ask that you and your guests refrain from smoking on the grounds and in the buildings.
