Dr. Phu Truong is a highly experienced hematologist and oncologist with a strong commitment to providing compassionate care and advancing cancer research. A native of Wichita, Dr. Truong earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1999, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita in 2002. He then completed a three-year fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2005 and a visiting fellowship in Blood and Marrow Transplantation at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Dr. Truong is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology. He is an active member of several prominent medical organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where he serves as the President of the Kansas chapter. He is also a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, and the American Medical Association, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Truong is passionate about cancer research and has served as the Principal Investigator for the Wichita NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), a National Cancer Institute-sponsored initiative. His expertise extends to his academic role as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
Dr. Truong currently serves as the Oncology Medical Director at Wesley Medical Center and has been a vital member of the Cancer Center of Kansas since 2005, where he continues to provide exceptional care to his patients. His dedication to both clinical practice and research makes him a distinguished leader in the field of oncology.
